ode to the man who kneels

it is much too late in the run of this show to write a review. but just a note to say we saw it and loved it. it is the most abstract and purely poetic of the Richard Maxwell shows we’ve seen. sort of a meditation on the Western, a paring down to the bare essentials. I particularly admired the simple lighting, basically a single spotlight from the foot of the stage that followed the actors and cast large looming shadows. and the songs were very moving as well.

they’ve added some performances so if you haven’t seen it yet, head on down to the Performing Garage and check it out.
