New York City Ballet Artists’ Night
A dynamic evening for artists, curated by the Education Department of New York City Ballet on Tuesday, May 31, 2005.
Following the performance that night, which features Peter Martins’ Octet, Christopher Wheeldon’s After the Rain, and George Balanchine’s Stravinsky Violin Concerto, we are inviting creative practitioners of all stripes to join us for Wine, Cheese & Conversation. The reception will afford the chance to mix and mingle on the New York State Theater Promenade, Philip Johnson’s soaring gathering space and will feature a panel discussion on the subject of (post) Modernism Now. With the evening’s work as a backdrop, our conversation will consider current debates about what “modern” means in this turbulent, high-speed cultural moment. The discussion will be moderated by Wendy Perron, Editor in Chief, Dance Magazine.
The Education Department hopes to engage a range of voices from downtown to the boroughs and from various genres and walks of life. We are extending a professional discount on tickets and complimentary reception passes for artists and practitioners and we encourage you to spread the word about the event. Please join us for libations and a stimulating forum.
