BAX is seeking new dance, theater, or performance works for its 2006 Performance Season. Dates run between January – May 2006. They are seeking work appropriate for the following series:

— First Weekends Performance & Discussion Series
— The Groundhog Series for Family Audiences
— Annual Women’s Performance Festival

SEEKING DANCE, THEATER, PERFORMANCE WORKS

BAX is seeking new dance, theater, or performance works for its 2006 Performance Season. Dates run between January – May 2006. We are seeking work appropriate for the following series:

— First Weekends Performance & Discussion Series – two evenings of performance in a shared program usually with 2 other artists. Works can be no longer than 15 minutes. A conversation follows the performance.

— The Groundhog Series for Family Audiences – geared to children and families ages 3 and up – takes place Sundays in February – works should be no longer than 50 minutes and MUST have an interactive component with the audience.

— Annual Women’s Performance Festival – March performances. Work no longer than 30 minutes. Work should articulate a political, social, cultural or artistic point of view of interest to women. Women and transgendered artists only. Please do not submit work that is only created by a woman as a rationale.

BAX provides modest artist stipends, lighting, sound, production/front of house staff, and publicity.

To submit a proposal, please include the following:
— Your name and contact info include phone numbers and email addresses.
— Half page bio
— No longer than one page description of the project (no smaller than 12 point font) (please include a synopsis if your project is text based work)
— Technical requirements
— Length of project, including whether you are willing to present an excerpt and how long that would be.
— Up to 2 pieces of relevant press materials (may include a photo of you, or a piece you’ve made)
— A videotape cued to watching 5 minutes of the piece you are submitting or a DVD. (Can be a work in progress). IT MUST BE OF THE WORK YOU ARE PROPOSING. (please include a SASE to return your videotape)
— Three recent performances (list what, where, when)
— Please note WHICH series you are applying for.
— Any time period you know you are NOT AVAILABLE between January-May 2006
— Please note any performances planned for this work at other venues between November 2005-June 2006.

ALL MATERIALS MUST ARRIVE AT BAX no later than Friday, July 8, 2005 at 4:00PM (in the office, not postmarked). You will be notified by August 1, 2005.
