call for submissions

P.S. 122 is now accepting submissions for the 2005-2006 season’s “Random and Regular” programming: DANCEOFF!, Avant-Garde-Arama and the *new* Avant-Garde-Arama for the Whole Family! Click through to see the details of each program.

P.S. 122’s “Random and Regular” series gives artists the chance to show new, short work. They are an opportunity for emerging artists to show their work and be seen and established artists to experiment and play with new ideas. To be considered for any of the programs, please submit a VHS/DVD sample of your work, and information about yourself and your company (a press-kit, a bio, a resume, reviews, etc.). Please also include a short description of the work you are proposing. If you want your materials returned, you must include a self-addressed, stamped envelope !!!.

Please submit your proposal to the appropriate program for your work. Please DO NOT submit the same proposal to P.S. 122 more than once. Once submitted, your work may be considered for all “Random and Regular” programming, at the curators’ discretion.

P.S. 122 is not accepting unsolicited proposals for full presentations at this time. We’re digging through a HUGE pile of proposals and want to give everyone due consideration. When we’re caught up, we’ll notify everyone about our proposal process and schedule.Thanks for your understanding!

Avant-Garde-Arama

Take part in the long running P.S 122 tradition! If you have an exciting short piece, or a short part of a long piece begging to be shown, Avant-Garde-Arama wants to see it! Avant-Garde-Arama gives emerging artists the chance to perform 8-10 minutes of their work in a festive and supportive environment. Alongside these emerging artists Avant-Garde-Arama features work from established performers who are trying something new. This series is curated by Salley May and Avant-Garde-Arama Committee. This Fall’s AGA will be on October 14 & 15.

Avant-Garde-Arama For The Whole Family

Avant-Garde-Arama isn’t just for grown-ups anymore! On Sunday, October 16th, Performance Space 122 will present Avant-Garde-Arama For The Whole Family. Avant-Garde-Arama For The Whole Family showcases experimental performance by, for, or about kids. P.S. 122 is especially interested in showing the work of adventurous young performers. If you’ve been working on a short piece that the whole family can experience, submit your work to Avant-Garde-Arama For The Whole Family!

DANCEOFF!
Deadline for submission: September 1st, 2005
Terry Dean Bartlett and Katie Workum’s DANCEOFF! is now accepting submissions for its fall and spring shows at P.S. 122. DANCEOFF! presents pieces up to approx seven minutes long that feature the best of dance, dance/theater, comic dance, physical theater and undershowcased dance forms from NYC and beyond. All you cloggers, jump ropers, jugglers and Mambo-ers, send us your stuff! DANCEOFF! strives to give the audience the fiercest of physicality, however presented.
