2006 DUMBO DANCE FESTIVAL(October 19 – 22, 2006)

WHITE WAVE presents a thrilling showcase of works by ninety emerging and established choreographers and dance companies as an integral part of the tenth annual d.u.m.b.o. art under the bridge festival.

WAVE RISING SERIES (October 25 – November 5, 2006)

Twelve dance companies, selected and tightly curated by WHITE WAVE, will be showcased in a full-length program (30-40 minutes per company), immediately following, and catching, the momentum of the extremely popular DUMBO DANCE FESTIVAL.

Designed to showcase the work of emerging and established choreographers and dance companies, the 2006 DUMBO DANCE FESTIVAL as part of the tenth annual d.u.m.b.o. art under the bridge festival seeks submissions. Festival dates are Friday through Sunday, October 20-22, 2006 with a Gala Benefit scheduled for Thursday, October 19, 2006. As in the past, the dance festival will be held at the WHITE WAVE’s John Ryan Theater located at 25 Jay Street (at the DUMBO waterfront) in Brooklyn. There will also be a series of outdoor dance performances on the expansive green lawn of Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park (on the waterfront between the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges).

This year we are realizing a long-sought dream by launching the WAVE RISING SERIES. Approximately 12 dance companies, selected and tightly curated by WHITE WAVE, will be showcased in a full-length program (30-40 minutes per company). The SERIES is a perfect opportunity for choreographers who want to perform a New York season, but may not have the time or resources to produce a full event. WHITE WAVE is taking care of all of the production dilemmas faced by independent choreographers and is well known for packing a full house into its John Ryan Theater. We strongly encourage outstanding artists to propose new works for this series, which will run for the two weeks immediately following, and catching, the momentum of the extremely popular DUMBO DANCE FESTIVAL. The WAVE RISING SERIES is the next logical step in fulfilling WHITE WAVE’s commitment to find, nurture, and expand opportunities for extraordinarily gifted artists.
