Don’t Let the Under The Radar Festival Slip Below Your Sights

The Under the Radar Festival is officially underway, with a plethora of performances to shake up a dull New York January. UTR is akin to putting new works on shuffle, offering a global mix of everything from solo pieces to puppetry, all with a “downtown” state of mind. According to the official party line:

Now in its third year, UNDER THE RADAR embraces the vitality of contemporary theater in all of its many guises: this year’s extraordinary lineup features performance, playwriting, puppetry, solos, ensembles, and classics re-considered. Located at The Public Theater and its partner theaters – 59E59, Downtown Art, The Kitchen, and St. Ann’s Warehouse – UNDER THE RADAR will offer a crash course in theater that is exciting, independent, and experimental, created by some of the most dynamic artists working today.

Your humble editor is particularly geeked about shows by Big Art Group and Austin’s Rude Mechanicals, but if you’re undecided, you can use the pre-determined “Flightplans” to guide your theatre-going.
