Deganit Shemy: Iodine [YOD]

Using the healing, stinging, and defining properties of iodine as a point of departure, Deganit Shemy’s latest creation, Iodine [YOD], depicts a microcosm of six women struggling with their innate desire for intimacy, but trapped by an overriding fear of losing their personal identities in the process. The piece explodes as the women move between control and abandon, between being victims and victimizers, between vision and blindness, dependency and individuation. Using her talent for small, meticulous, sometimes awkward movements and deeply emotional choreography, Shemy erases the line between motion and emotion.
