The HomeBase Project is a public art collaboration taking place in Sugar Hill, Harlem from April 27th – May 18th.  The project is a site-specific work involving 17 International artists exploring the notion of “home.”  It is an extremely unique and culturally relevant concept and I believe it may be of particular interest to Culturebot readers.

The HomeBase Project features the work of a diverse group of international artists who inhabit a five-floor historical landmark building for three weeks, constructing site-specific art installations and and transforming the space into “Home.”  Participants in the project come from as far away as Lebanon, Israel, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, and Iran, but are also from the local Harlem community.  Each artist explores the concept of “home” through their own media – film, installation, music, dance, video, and more.  The project will also involve lectures, dialogue, and guided tours.
