Collective:Unconscious and The Tank are now homeless

Due to horrible sewage/plumbing problems and an intransigent/hostile landlord, both Collective:Unconscious and The Tank are going to be homeless as of July 31.

That leaves a LOT of artists in the lurch and two great organizations out in the cold. Though they serve different constituencies, these two arts organizations have provided a home for all kinds of art from popular music & comedy to the avant garde and experimental to the just plain weird. This is a loss that will be felt by all the emerging and edgy artists these groups fostered.

I’m sure the space will be filled with another overpriced restaurant or nightclub. Who wants to bet they’ll bring it back as an upscale version of what it once was – the Harmony Burlesque? A fancy den of iniquity for bajillionaires and celebutards.

Yeesh.
