Okay more arts and culture coverage soon. But I’m having a hard time thinking about art with all this election stuff going on. The Times has an article on The Party in Power, Running as if It Weren’t. I mean – its INSANE!! All the Republicans talking about changing Washington – they’ve been in power for 8 YEARS!!! they made Washington this way! And when McCain said Bush guided us through these “dark days” – did somebody forget that Bush CREATED these dark days? After the horror of 9/11 the ENTIRE WORLD was on our side!! We could have done anything and Bush went to Iraq.

Trying to imagine what this country would become under McCain/Palin horrifies me. It is one thing when popular culture reflects the lowest common denominator of Jerry Springer Show Redneck Narrow-minded Bible-thumping Proud-To-Be-Ignorant segment of the population. But if the rich oil companies who own Alaska manage to foist the Palin family on the American public, if I have to explain to people from other countries that we have managed to deliberately elect yet another right wing Corporate Oil Whore Old White Guy and his proudly provincial hockey mom veep, I’m just going to cry.
