Kudos to Pittsburgh -and I’m assuming the inimitable Ben Harrison had a lot to do with this – for their upcoming Pittsburgh International Festival of Firsts.

I wish I had a travel budget and could go see this – it has a great and fascinating line-up. I have seen Jo Stromgren’s The Department and I have seen work by Kassys, though not the piece being presented here. Rudresh Mahanthappa’s Samdhi:Diasporic Connections sounds great, Dean Wareham and Britta Phillips have composed a score for Andy Warhol’s legendary “screen tests” and I’m very curious about Ballet Maribor from Slovenia who say their ballet is “Shakespeare meets Radiohead”…
