This weekend, the New York Neo-Futurists are back at the Ontological. I have written about them before, when they showed some work at the Tiny Theater! Festival this summer. You can look at that review here. I like the energy of this group and each evening they will be joined by a new, different performer, which will add to the chaotic mix. New York Neo-Futurists Justin Tolley, Rob Neill and Connor Kalista attempt to find solace from the blows and bites of the city with a little help from a different, additional neo-futurist each show. This piece will be an original neo-futurist creation containing food, water, music and peanuts with a hint of torment. Taking themes of man vs. city and tenets of Neo-Futurism, Neill, Tolley and Kalista will create a full-length work.

The New York Neo-Futurists are an ensemble of dynamic writer/performer/directors who are best known for their critically acclaimed, energetic show of original short plays, Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind–a non-illusory collage of the comic and tragic, the political and personal, the visceral and experimental, while embracing chance, change, and chaos. Developing out of the format that has been a success in Chicago since 1988, the New York Neo-Futurists have roots in NYC from the mid 90’s. Since opening TML in New York, they have created over 1400 plays and continue to present award-winning, new and vital work every weekend in the East Village.
