co-housing in fort greene

The NY TIMES has an article on a co-housing project that is starting up in Fort Greene. Pretty interesting. Co-housing as a concept has been around for a long time, but its cool to see it being implemented in NYC. This sounds like a proposition for the already affluent, but if it works maybe it can be geared towards people of varying means.

Given the economy, real estate and the cost of living in the city, it seems like a great time to look at non-traditional housing solutions. Especially among the arts community. Collectives, co-housing, urban kibbutzes, whatever…. most artists I know are willing -even eager- to live in non-traditional configurations.

Maybe that could be part of my platform if I run for mayor again? Just floating a trial balloon.

😉
