Joseph Keckler is a long-time FOC (Friend of Culturebot) and has even contributed an article or two over the years. We’re excited to hear about his upcoming gig and EP release.

To celebrate the release of his E.P., Featured Creatures, Joseph Keckler returns to Joe’s Pub, presenting new songs and stories and inhabiting a miscellany of bizarre personae. He is joined by his musical partner in crime, violinist Dan Bartfield and special guests– lunatic comedienne Erin Markey (Our Hit Parade, Puppy Love: A Stripper’s Tail at PS122) and alt country chanteuse Melaena Cadiz, while backed by guitarist Rick Sorkin (The Venn Diagrams), and percussionist Michael Hanf. The evening is produced in association with Kearns Artist Services and TWEED Theatre.

Joseph Keckler is a performance artist and operatically trained singer who draws on his signature blend of vocal acrobatics, image-rich spoken word, and uncanny characterizations. In the past year his shows have been produced at The New Museum, Ars Nova, Envoy Gallery, The Transmodern Festival,The Players Club (in conjunction with a commission from Cinema 16) and as the inaugural edition of the NYU Performance Studies Guest Artist Series. This summer he completed a residency at Yaddo Artist Colony to develop a new performance piece.

Featured Creatures, Keckler’s debut recording contains six original songs, which draw influence from opera and blues and includes production work by experimental composer John Moran. Featured Creatures was released in Italy by Transeuropa, accompanying a book by Italian poet Gian Maria Annovi.
