St. Ann’s Warehouse announced its 2010-2011 season and there are some great shows in the line-up including new work from Ireland’s Druid Theatre Company, Daniel Kitson and Steve Cuiffo doing Lenny Bruce’s Carnegie Hall concert verbatim.

St. Ann¹s Warehouse will kick off its upcoming season with The Music of Fela Kuti, a free concert on Brooklyn Bridge Park¹s newly landscaped Pier I. On October 4, audiences from across Brooklyn and the greater NYC area will have an opportunity to experience the magnetic Fela! star, Sahr Ngaujah, and the live band from the Broadway show,
performing music by the towering Nigerian figure who invented Afrobeat.

Then St. Ann’s will present a season of premieres in the warehouse, beginning with the American premiere of Druid’s Penelope (October 23 – November 14), followed by the American Premiere of KneehighTheatre’s The Red Shoes, Emma Rice¹s adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen¹s dark tale. The production will run November 19 -December 12.

Culturebot is particularly excited to see the American Premiere of Daniel Kitson’s The Interminable Suicide of Gregory Church. We saw Kitson do a different show in Edinburgh a few years back and were just delighted by this unique storyteller and comedian.Performances will take place January 6 – 30, 2010.

And DEFINITELY SAVE THE DATE of FEBRUARY 4th when St. Ann’ss will present Lenny Bruce at Carnegie Hall. Steve Cuiffo, who virtually reincarnates Bruce, will perform a verbatim resurrection of the monologue delivered 50 years later to the night.
