Another installment of the Culturebot Scanner to put performance on your radar. Here are some events to check out over the next two weeks:

APRIL 4-21

Eterniday is Witness Relocation‘s second collaboration with the playwright Charles Mee. Their previous show, Heaven on Earth (which played at La MaMa in 2011) was a fun, rambunctious party, and Eterniday features a big cast with some fantastic performers—Nikki Calonge, Sean Donovan, Vanessa Koppel, Kate Lee, Mike Mikos, Javier Perez, Wil Petre and Saori Tsukada—so looks like it will follow suit. It opened last week, and runs until next weekend.

THURSDAY-SATURDAY, APRIL 11-13

Choreographer Miriam Wolf and her collaborators Michael Ingle and Lindsay Lee present a house made of salt at super cool new art center/performance space JACK in Clinton Hill. About the work Wolf says, “We love and hurt those we love, we excavate our histories to recreate memories, we face the end of existance. we dance.” Catch the show this weekend @ 505 1/2 Waverly Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11238. 8pm. THURSDAY-MONDAY, MARCH 28-APRIL 21

Duct Tape Girl & Fetish Chick Conquer the World is a show that promises some intriguing elements: living room theater coupled with non-coercive audience interaction. Written and directed by Paz Pardo, with performances by Lauren LaRocca, Dhira Rauch, and William Vaughn.

The event is @…it’s a surprise! Really, though, it’s in a living room in Park Slope, Brooklyn so the address is released after ticket purchase. They do at least tell you that it’s off the B/Q at 7th Ave and 2/3 at Grand Army Plaza. Shows Thursday, Saturday and Monday, 8pm, until the 21st. Tickets $15

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, APRIL 12-13

Bebe Miller presents her latest work, A History, featuring longtime company members Angie Hauser and Darrell Jones, and video by Lily Skove. There is an in-depth interview with Miller and Laurie Uprichard in the most recent Movement Research Performance Journal (Issue #42), in which Miller relates her own history, as well as the various ways this piece deals with memory—what is remembered, and how. The most recent installment from an important artist with a rich history.

Presented by NYLA and 651 Arts, the event is @ Kumble Theater for the Performing Arts LIU, One University Plaza, Brooklyn, NY. 7:30pm. Tickets $20.

ALSO

PS 122’s longest running series, Avant-Garde-Arama pays tribute to the legendary performance artist and deeply missed friend and mentor, Tom Murrin. Murrin anchored the variety show for the past 27 years.

This years mini-festival is curated by Salley May and features two high-energized evenings of “break out performances in dance, music, theatre, performance art, video/film, and more presented in eight minutes or less.”

Jonathan Ames and Dynasty Handbag will host the first night of events, on April 12th. The evening features performances and video by Elevator Repair Service (excerpt from play by Sibyl Kempson), Syd Straw, The Naked Lady (Annie Iobst), James Godwin, Love Everybody Movement (Heidi Dorow), Alice Klugherz, David Leslie, Cornelius Loy, and Julie Atlas Muz

Satruday The Factress (Lucy Sexton) and Nurse Baby Asparagus (Mike Iveson) host with performances by Unitard, Dr. Schüler & the Operating Theater Company, Jo Andres video: Diana Krall’s “When the Curtain Comes Down” featuring Steve Buscemi, Laurie Berg, Andrew Schneider, Tigger! and the company of [title of show] and Now. Here. This.

Abrons Art Center hosts the series while PS 122 continues its renovations.

SATURDAY, APRIL 13

Choreographer Katie Rose McLaughlin’s These Specific Points featuring Ryan Frank and Brighid Greene. Performed at The Invisible Dog during the closing reception of Ryan Frank’s solo installation Handmade Frames. The event is @ 51 Bergen St in Brooklyn, NY 11201. 7pm and 8:30pm. Free.

MONDAY, APRIL 15

Valerie Work’s The Party Play in The Brick‘s monthly reading series The Oven. The event is @ 579 Metropolitan Ave in Brooklyn, NY 11211. 8pm. TIckets $5.

THURSDAY-SATURDAY, APRIL 18-20

Vicky Shick, a longtime and well-respected performer and teacher presents her latest choreographic work with her collaborators: set and costume designer Barbara Kilpatrick, sound designer Elise Kermani, and lighting designer Carol Mullins. Though an anomaly amongst the rest of Danspace’s current season, which is focusing mostly on “emerging choreographers,” any opportunity to see another work by Shick is welcome. @ Danspace Project, 8pm. THURSDAY-SATURDAY, APRIL 18-20

Bushwick studio/gallery Nothing Space presents Shadow Signs: Dance/Performance. Featuring work by: Crichton Atkinson, Allison Brainard, Ariel Abrahams, Cara Elizabeth, EmmaGrace Skove-Epes, Carlotte Hendrickson, Theo Koppel, and Ian Gallagher. The event is @ 56 Bogart St. in Brooklyn, NY 11206. 7pm. $5 suggested donation.
