Performing Theorizing & The Death of Disciplines

dummies

I just got this email from Panoply Performance Lab & find if very enjoyable. Esther & Yelena & the other associated provocateurs are actually doing things differently and challenging the norms of performance & presentation:

PPL can no longer claim to be a part of any existing performance discipline and have thus lost our ability to self-justify via art language.  However, the acts themselves continue.

Friday, September 6, 10pm-11pm PPL (the space) will host Kikuko Tanaka’ project Poultry Paradise and Its Discontents: Nightshifts  as part of Theorems, Proofs, Rebuttals and Propositions: A Conference of Theoretical Theater, PART I September 6, 7, 8 and PART II September 12, 13, co-organized by Yelena Gluzman and Esther Neff.  In addition to Kikuko Tanaka‘s installation/video/performance at PPL, Amapola Prada brings REVOLUTION to Glasshouse on the 6th, 5-8pm, Reality Research Center’s Plato’s Symposium is currently happening at Momenta Art and will conclude Sunday at Glasshouse, 4:30-5:30pm, and Mike Taylor‘s IDEA MACHINE: Experiments in Theatre Techniques for Audience Transformation will premier on Sunday the 8th at Collapsable Hole,6pm. WOWZA! These four are the plenary performances for PART I, PART II will feature presentations, performances, papers, and other responses by conference participants… Click HERE for schedule and info. All conference events and panels are $10 suggested donation or register for all of it here.
