blogging culture

Over on the ArtsJournal.com blogs, Andrew Taylor (no, not the one from Duran Duran) talks about the new blogs on the On The Boards website. (On The Boards is a performance venue in Seattle).
One of the things he brings up is the concern that people will post negative comments about the work in question. Well, that’s something we’ve experienced here from time to time and I tend to agree with what On The Boards has said, that its better to have a passionate discussion about the art, even if its not the most positive, then no discussion at all.

Taylor has a lot to say as well about collaboration between arts venues and the impact of technology on culture. He tends to focus more on Big Money places like symphonies and operas, but some of the issues are the same for the scrappy little guys.
