The Sundance Institute Theatre Program and The Howard Gilman Foundation announced projects by Doug Wright and Terrence McNally for development at The Sundance Institute Theatre Laboratory at White Oak in Yulee, Florida, Nov. 29-Dec. 13.The first, Grey Gardens, is a new musical based on the respected documentary film, with a book by Doug Wright (I Am My Own Wife), music by Scott Frankel and lyrics by Michael Korie. Grey Gardens will be directed by Michael Greif (Rent).

Okay, so its not very downtown-y necessarily, but I’ve got to say, a musical based on Grey Gardens?? Maybe it’ll be brilliant. Maybe it’ll be tragic. Maybe it’ll be tragically brilliant. But I’ll be there. Oh yes.

Speaking of being there, you shoulda been at Culturebot Cocktails, which was fun. Performances were great. I will try to edit & post the grainy, dark video I shot. Stay tuned.
