Dear Land, New Music

Thursday night marks the return of new music at P.S. 122. The International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), one of the most exciting groups on the new music scene, will begin a run of Dear Land, an evening of two compelling works of contemporary music. One is the World Premiere of Chinese-American composer Du Yun’s (pictured above) new work Zolle. the other is an innovative staging of Sir Peter Maxwell Davies’ Eight Songs for a Mad King.

Combining a chamber orchestra and operatic voices with stunning video, cool sculpture-like costumes and dramatic staging, Dear Land will be an amazing evening.

ICE performs on the following schedule:

October 27-30
Thursday-Saturday at 8:00 p.m.
Saturday at 3:00 p.m. and Sunday at 5:00 p.m.
Tickets are $20/$15/$10 (click to buy)

From their website:

The International Contemporary Ensemble is a uniquely structured chamber group comprised of dynamic, versatile young performers and composers. ICE exists to create, perform and advance the music of our time. Through innovative programming, commissions by young composers, multimedia collaborations, and performances in non-traditional venues, ICE redefines classical music as it brings together new work and new listeners.
