Performing Arts Forum in France

PAF: AN INITIATIVE FOR ARTISTIC AND CRITICAL RESEARCH INVITES PARTICIPANTS

PAF (=PerformingArtsForum) is a place for professional and not-yet professional practitioners and activists in the field of performing arts, visual art, new media and internet, theory and cultural production, who seek to research and determine their own conditions of work. PAF is for people who can organize their own artistic production not only responding to the opportunities given by the institutional market.

Initiated and run by artists, theoreticians and practitioners themselves, PAF is a user-created, user-innovative type of institution. Not a production-house, neither a venue nor a research-center, it is a platform for everyone who wants to expand the possibilities and interests in his/her own working practice.

PAF is
– a forum for producing knowledge in critical exchange
– a place for temporary autonomy and concentration on work
– a tool-machine where one can work on developing methods, tools and procedures, not necessarily driven toward a product
– a place for experimenting with other than known modes of production and organization of work, e.g. open source production

PAF (=PerformingArtsForum) is situated in a beautiful former convent in the north of France, in the Picardie near Reims, 1 1Ž2 hours (130km) northeast from Paris. The building contains 11 studios of different sizes for work, bedrooms, salons, kitchen, mediaspace, 1,2ha garden etc. Rates (for individuals or groups without subsidy): from $63 a week for a simple single room, to $120 a week for a bigger, better equipped room or private apartment. Rates include use of all common spaces, kitchen, dining room, mediaspace, garden, etc.

Use of studio space is free.
