It’s ok to snoop on your neighbor

… that is according to Nina Katchadourian. In the NYTimes today, you can read about her public art project at Liberty and William Streets in Lower Manhattan. Use a large scale touristy-telescope to peek into the window of a commercial building, then translate a code made out of everyday objects placed on the window-sill to find out the inhabitants’ feelings for the day. The messages are inspired by Katchadourian’s interest in nautical code and shipwreck culture. Messages such as “I have received faulty instructions.” “I am dragging anchor”; “I require a tug”; “I am ending maneuvers early,” have been seen.(NYTimes) Take a trip downtown and you might find you have something in common with the anonymous window dresser…..
