The fall and rise of the Rising Fallen

Those of us who have been on the downtown scene for awhile have very fond memories of one of the greatest bands never to hit the NYC stages – The Rising Fallen. They were formed about 7 years ago and have cancelled nearly all their gigs through lost metrocards, drunken-ness, getting lost, bad hair, bad breath, arriving at the wrong venue, wrong city, wrong country. They are, mysteriously, VERY BIG in the Faroe Islands, though, and the band played a highly successful tour of the oil rigs there.

You might have heard such iconic indie-rock hits as “Come over here and say that” and “my girl’s suicide, right?” both released as singles on Zandar records. Or maybe you didn’t. If you’re unfamiliar with their work, check out the video on YouTube.

Anyway, I heard a rumor that they may, finally, be getting a gig in NYC and have promised to stay sober and washed long enough to actually make it. We’ll keep you posted.
