The Bushwick Starr

Via nytheatre.com comes news of a new venue, the Bushwick Starr.

Sue Kessler and Noel Joseph Allain, who used the black box space since 2001 for their own theater company, Fovea Floods, before opening it up to artists in 2004, are looking to be more than just theatrical landlords:

“Besides fully converting / renovating the actual playing space of the theater, we’ve worked very hard to create a comfortable environment in which people can socialize and commune. The welcoming atmosphere we’ve established seems to be something that people pick up on right away. We believe it’s a big part of what attracts our audience and keeps them coming back.”
