Target Margin Theater is an OBIE-award winning experimental theater company seeking a new Managing Director. Target Margin is committed to adventurous experimentation with classic texts, opera and music-theater, and new writing, driven by the artistic director and a group of core long-term collaborators. Founded in 1991, TMT has been presented at various venues including the Spoleto Festival, Bonn Biennale and Mass MoCA. We have a proud history of culturally diverse production and of hiring and cultivating young artists, production and management personnel.

Our new Managing Director will be responsible for the overall management of the company and will collaborate with the Artistic Director to develop and implement strategy as we prepare for the next phase of growth. We need a leader responsible for strategy and execution in all areas of operations: fiscal management and reporting; writing contracts and production agreements; board management and development; supervision of staff and hiring, including union relations and negotiations; development, cultivation and marketing; and General Management during production. The Managing Director will work closely with the Artistic Director in all these areas, but s/he will be the primary supervisor in our office. Experience managing and motivating people, paid staff and volunteers, is essential.

Our ideal candidate will have a graduate degree in theater management, arts administration, or not-for-profit management or significant professional experience in executive management. Fiscal skills and budget management experience are essential. But equally important to us are a strong interest in challenging experimental artistry, a generous open spirit and a sense of humor. Everyone in our company participates in artistic discussions and planning.
