Work At The Whitney

I been so busy with the PRELUDE I forgot to post this. I am way behind schedule. Anyhoo – okay so PRELUDE is opening tomorrow night with an awesome panel and then a party at Chorus Karaoke (FREE KARAOKE from 8PM-10PM) and then all weekend long performances from all your favorite downtown theater peeps. dig on that.

OH – but I forgot again, almost.

The Whitney Museum’s performance department is in search of an assistant to help manage an upcoming performance series.   More details after the jump. This is a great gig for a young aspiring curator…

 

 

Duties:

 

-Manage unique performance series with an eye toward art safety, audience experience, and performance integrity.

 

-Work directly with performing artist and assist as needed; report to performing arts coordinator.

 

-Coordinate performance schedule with Museum staff including performance department, exhibitions staff, registrars, security, and visitor services and update appropriate staff with changes.

 

-Supervise performances, alert appropriate staff to problems or concerns.

 

-Be present for all scheduled performances, including some evenings and weekends.

 

-Interact with the public, act as a representative of the Museum. Be knowledgeable and able to respond to inquiries about the exhibition, the performance and the artist.

 

 

Skills:

Must have good interpersonal skills; impeccable judgment; be able to work alone and as part of a team; be able to take direction and make quick decisions independently; must be highly dependable. Background in theater/other performance and interest in contemporary art helpful.

 

 

Time commitment:

15 – 20 hrs per week, a mix of weekday and weekend time; exact schedule to be confirmed
