2042 and the changing face of the country

“…the inexorable transformation of America into a white-minority country in some 30 years — by 2042 in the latest Census Bureau estimate — is causing serious jitters, if not panic, in some white establishments.”

This is a quote from a Frank Rich Op-Ed piece in the Times reacting to the Gates debacle and the great Beer Summit. I don’t know about panic – but it is an interesting point. And more importantly it presents an opportunity for cultural innovators to move beyond identity politics and into a new wave of multiculturalism.

What will America look like? How can we be proactive in creating a dialogue that will shape a positive future rather than one riven by divisiveness? If artists are part of the process of envisioning the future than hybrid work that reinforces hybrid identities needs to be exploring this.
