LMCC Artists Summer Institute

The Artists Summer Institute (ASI) is a free, five-day professional development intensive for 50 individual artists working in all disciplines, offered through a partnership of Lower Manhattan Cultural Council and Creative Capital.

Held at LMCC’s studios on Governors Island, the Institute offers a unique opportunity for artists to step outside their daily routines and focus on their professional skills and artistic goals.

The Artists Summer Institute is designed to provide the training, tools, and advice to help put participating artists on a path to greater sustainability and self-sufficiency. Artists who participate in the institute will gain in-depth arts-focused professional training in the areas of strategic planning, business planning, PR and marketing, verbal communications, Internet optimization, and financial management.

The workshops and hands-on group sessions take an integrated approach to learning that addresses different learning styles, matches practical information with long-term visioning, and encourages a peer-learning environment. Participants will also receive resource materials and workbooks including exercises, tools, and useful tips to continue to develop their skills.
