Juneteenth is an important event in American history as it is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the U.S. The Fort Greene Juneteenth Arts Festival is part of SOUL OF BROOKLYN WEEK 2012 and is made possible, in part, by the Soul of Brooklyn Regrant program, which is supported by funding from a Rockefeller Foundation New York City Cultural Innovation Fund award and administered by the Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC) in collaboration with the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts (MoCADA).
