Magic at its most serious mysterious…

There’s something ironic and beautiful and oh-so-meta about this. The Box, formerly the den of iniquity of choice for the debauched and glamorous Page Six set known for its relaxed attitude towards nasally administered medication and public sexual displays, has long since jumped the shark to serve the B&T, financial services bottle service set. The Elephant Room – created by the talented performers Geoff Sobelle, Trey Lyford and Steve Cuiffo – is a brilliant, hilarious and surreal riff on the world of magic as imagined through the self-deluded suburban magicians Dennis Diamond, Louie Magic and Darryl Hannah who perform for each other in a nondescript meeting hall in an unspecified New Jersey town, a self-populated exclusive club they call The Elephant Room.  The show comes back in edited form for four shows only January 31, February 2, 7 and 9. Though I bet if it does well, it’ll extend. Can hipster magicians restore The Box’s je ne sais quois? I don’t know, but meta or not, it is sure to be a great time.

A magician’s-only magic club opens its doors for the first time in history to a select audience at its new headquarters: THE BOX. Louie Magic, Dennis Diamond and Daryl Hannah will confound, amaze, mystify and move you. They will leave you slack-mouthed, devoid of any bodily function, your hands twitching from their wrists, a puddle of crushed perception.
