Conquest of the Universe
I realize this is a bit belated – but if you’re looking for a good show to see tonight, go catch the final performance of Salt Theater’s production of the 1967 Charles Ludlam spectacle Conquest of the Universe, or When Queens Collide. It is an exuberant and over-the-top production with an incredibly talented cast of actors. It is a glittery, acid-deranged quasi-Shakespearian partly-pornographic semi-scatological adventure in Outer Space. Complete with disco dance production numbers. Seriously. I don’t know if they have plans to bring it back so go see it tonight.
Although I tell you, if they put it on as a late-night show in a night club it might just run forever.
