There’s some big business next week. Let’s start with my PICK OF THE WEEK:

Juana Molina and Lukas Ligeti at le poisson rouge. Friday Feb 27 – $15. This is like stealing. I stumbled upon Juana Molina about 5 years ago when she was opening for Antibalas, and I have been in love ever since. A gorgeous voice, amazing musicianship, and so damn cute. Before going out as a musician, she was a comedienne in her homeland, Argentina – and her sense of humor is still very much a part of her live set.

If you’re looking for something a bit grittier, I also suggest Pterodactyl at Cake Shop. There’s not two ways around it – they’re an Animal Collective rip-off, but it should be fun if you’ve only got a handful of crumpled singles at the end of the week.

I guess I’m in a huge psycho-folk-electro-pop mode. Saturday night, if you don’t have tickets to Grizzly Bear + Final Fantasy at BAM, go see Portland’s Blitzen Trappen at the Music Hall of Williamsburg.
