drowning in performance

in the past two weeks I’ve seen about 15 performances, some of them 3.5 hours long. Keeping track of what’s coming up while Andy’s gone is going to be a bear, but I hope to catch up with this Wednesday evening. Meanwhile, I just came from HAIR, the American tribal love rock musical. In Central Park, last summer, it seemed the perfect expression of adolescent alienation from the mainstream culture. At the Hirschfeld Theater, where it’s just opened to rave reviews, it feels more like hippie vaudeville. Not that there’s anything wrong with that….
