Clubbed Thumb's Summerworks 2010

Obie Award-winning Clubbed Thumb proudly presents Summerworks 2010, their 15th annual festival of new plays, from June 2 to 26, 2010, at the Ohio Theatre, located at 66 Wooster Street, between Spring & Broome, in Soho, NY.

Here’s the line-up:

Dot (June 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12)
In which old Dot and the weird kid from the neighborhood become friends. Set in that kind of Florida town that makes you wonder: Is this TV, a book, or maybe even a cabaret?

Written by Kate E. Ryan (member of 13P) and directed by Obie Award-winner Anne Kauffman (The Thugs at Soho Rep, This Wide Night with Naked Angels) with original music by Mike Iveson (The Sound and the Fury and Gatz with ERS, Richard Maxwell’s Ode to the Man Who Kneels, and Sibyl Kempson’s Crime or Emergency). Featuring David Brooks, Kate Hopkins, Birgit Huppuch, Ed Jewett, Lynne McCollough and Mary Shultz. The design team consists of Jason Simms (Set), Garin Marschall (Lights), Olivera Gajic (Costumes) and Jessica Paz (Sound).

Five Genocides (June 13, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19)
In which Katie is determined to finish writing that book – even if she didn’t start it. Lucky there’s a new co-worker at the Fashion Bug to help since her in-laws are deluded, drunk and dog-obsessed.

Written by Samuel D. Hunter (I Am Montana at London’s Arcola Theatre) and directed by Davis McCallum (Queens Boulevard at Signature Theater, Elliot: A Soldier’s Fugue with P73–2007 Pulitzer Prize Finalist). Featuring Charlotte Booker, Crystal Finn, Carmen M. Herlihy, Edward James Hyland and Barret O’Brien. The design team consists of Dane Laffrey (Set), Russell H. Champa (Lights), Jessica Trejos (Costumes) and Jill Du Boff (Sound).

The Small (June 20, 21, 22, 24, 25, 26)
In which a man struggles to assemble a reality from his dreams, the dog very much wants to be taken for a walk and the Natural Food store isn’t.

Written by Anne Washburn (The Internationalist at The Vineyard Theatre, Apparition) and directed by Obie Award-winner Les Waters (In the Next Room (or the vibrator play) on Broadway, Big Love) with original music by Dave Malloy (Space//Space and Beowulf with Banana Bag & Bodice, 2009-11 NEA/TCG Career Development Program for Designers). Featuring Gideon Banner, Maria Dizzia, Matthew Maher, Dave Malloy and Susie Pourfar. The design team consists of Louisa Thompson (Set), Jane Cox (Lights), Kirche Leigh Zeile (Costumes) and Bray Poor (Sound).
