heads up: Gatz @ EMPAC

Elevator Repair Service is taking Gatz, its legendary production of the entire text of The Great Gatsby, up to the Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center at Rensselaer Polytech for the weekend of Nov. 22 and 23. This is the show that they’re still famously banned from performing in NYC, thanks to the estate of F. Scott Fitzgerald, so this is your best shot to see it for the next few (?) years. Plus, EMPAC is a brand-new space that looks, well, great.

I saw it at the Live Arts festival in Philly last year, and I can promise you two things:

1) The show will last 7 hours, including a dinner break.

2) You will want more when it is done.

Well worth the drive to Troy. Nov 22 and 23 at 3 pm – buy tickets here or call (518) 276-3921.

"James Gatz - that was really, or at least legally, his name."

update: Sarah from ERS says Amtrak has a 2.5-hour train to Albany-RPI, for the car-free.
