One of Culturebot’s favorite theater companies, Norway’s Verdensteatret, will present their new work And All The Questionmarks Started to Sing at THEATER DER WELT 2010 in ESSEN, GERMANY on the following schedule:

08 July 8:00 PM German premiere
09 July 8:00 PM with public talk
11 July 4:00 PM

And All the Questionmarks Started to Sing is a composition in the form of a hybrid between performance, concert and installation. A transparent though complex work with an overwhelming richness of details. It might be described as an art-machine played by musicians, performers and robots.

By treating the whole room and everything in it as the material, the group has created a vast intermedia composition where visual art, sound art and music are combined with the theatrical potential in the material.

Physically the work appears as a landscape of highly original kinetic sculptures that activate a diversity of animation techniques, micro puppetry, music, lights and shadow play. All objects produce art and are also a part in it. The idea of simultaneous perspectives and multiple functions tied to each object creates a work of works. ”..We enter a state of excited surprise that all we wonder about starts to sing instead of giving answers.”

Theater der Welt is Germany’s leading international festival for performing arts. The festival was initiated in 1981 by the German Centre of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) and takes place every three years in a different German city.

From 30 June to 17 July nearly 400 artists from all over the globe have been invited by the Theater an der Ruhr, Schauspiel Essen and the European Capital of Culture RUHR.2010 to Mülheim an der Ruhr and Essen. During Theater der Welt 2010 they present their personal visions of our world and take us on a journey around the globe that provides new sensations, surprising encounters and unexpected events.
