I just got an email from a guy named Jeremy Townsend who runs the Ghetto Gourmet, a “restaurant without walls” based out of Oakland, CA. Apparently he started doing small, regular Monday night underground dining experiences and grew to wandering around the San Francisco Bay Area doing spontaneous and impromptu community dinner parties with eclectic chefs and entertainers in unique settings. They’ve made two successful trips down to LA, and are working on a more extensive tour doing dinner parties across the country like a rock band. Next week, they’ll doing a series of dinners for the first time in NYC but the space that they had booked backed out.
