Plays and Playwrights 2008 – In Stores Now!

Culturebot just got an e-mail yesterday that the ninth volume of Plays and Playwrights, edited by the tireless Martin Denton and published by The New York Theatre Experience, Inc. (NYTE) is HOT off the presses and available online and at bookstores everywhere

Plays and Playwrights 2008 features ten works that premiered off-off-Broadway between September 2006-September 2007: The Telling Trilogy by Crystal Skillman, What Happened When by Daniel Talbott, Antarctica by Carolyn Raship, Cleansed by Thomas Bradshaw, Linnea by John Regis, …and we all wore leather pants by Robert Attenweiler, Marvelous Shrine by Leslie Bramm, In Our Name by Elena Hartwell, Universal Robots by Mac Rogers, and Fall Forward by Daniel Reitz.The volume also features a 69-page appendix providing a directory of more than 600 new American plays produced in New York during the 2006-07 theatre season.

In addition to the complete texts of the plays, it includes biographical information about the playwrights, production data, and an introductory essay by Denton. The foreword is by theatre critic Mark Blankenship.

Martin Denton is the editor of all previous Plays and Playwrights collections as well as Playing with Canons: Explosive New Works from Classic Literature by America’s Indie Playwrights. He is the founder and executive director of The New York Theatre Experience, Inc., a nonprofit corporation that uses new and traditional media to provide advocacy and support for American theatre.
